What does a nutrition consultant do?

The body is naturally designed to repair itself if provided with a properly digested and absorbed, nutrient-rich diet. A nutrition consultant therefore looks not only at the quality of your food, but also any other factors that may be interfering with your ability to use nutrients. These may include poor digestion, food intolerances or allergies, a sluggish metabolism, toxicity, mineral imbalances, unbalanced gut bacteria or lifestyle factors. The aim is to identify and tackle the underlying causes of your health problems rather than simply give short-term relief.

How does a consultation work?

Before your first visit to the clinic, you will be asked to fill in a questionnaire giving details of your current diet and symptoms, health history and lifestyle. This enables any initial assessment of possible underlying causes. After discussion, Julia will outline the factors that may have caused or be contributing to your health problems, and how nutritional treatment may help. A strategy for improving your health will be suggested, including detailed dietary guidelines and lifestyle recommendations. The pace of these changes will be decided by you! Some supplements may be recommended to provide an initial boost to your metabolism and the process of repair. If appropriate, diagnostic and functional screening tests may be considered at this stage. The first consultation will take about 75 minutes, longer if health screening is required. A second consultation of 45 minutes usually follows four weeks later with further consultations as necessary.

Why should nutrition help?

Every one of the body's cells and tissues depends upon getting the right raw materials - vitamins, minerals, protein and fatty acids - to work properly. Growing evidence suggests that many chronic and degenerative diseases can be traced back directly to poor nutrient intake. Optimum nutrition is about matching your lifestyle and your biochemical individuality with your nutrient requirements, by using a sound balanced diet with supplements when needed. Good nutrition is most likely your best and most cost effective insurance policy to ensure your future health.

What does a BioMeridian Vantage machine do?

A BioMeridian Vantage machine measures the energy at the body's meridian points, and directs your practitioner to probable areas of imbalance. This technology is used in various health care practices around the world. The process involves taking readings at the meridian points on the hands and feet.

According to European medical research, these points are related to the body's organs and organ systems. Major groups of points are connected through channels, or meridians. Twenty of these meridians begin or end on the hands and feet.

As a patient moves toward or away from health, the condition of any particular organ or system can be sensed along the meridians at representative points. As a result, stress associated with the corresponding organs can be surveyed using the indicated points.
After the initial measurements have been taken and recorded, the results can be reviewed. If stress values are above or below equilibrium, the system's extensive computer database will allow consideration of a wide range of possibilities that might help the patient regain a healthy balance.
